Digging through the “Spec Deck” I found some interesting bits and bobs I thought I’d share as I know you’d find them as interesting as I did.
Induction Sound Enhancer (MT only) Club and Grand Touring only. (Pretty sure its that sound tube thingamabobby, so if you don’t want intake sound piped into the cabin, buy a Sport.
LED headlamps STANDARD
Mazda Advanced keyless entry (std on AT; opt on MT)
Fuel lid lock connected to door locks STANDARD
Sport tuned suspension with Bilstein dampers (MT only) CLUB ONLY
Limited slip differential (MT only) CLUB ONLY
LED daytime running lights Club and Grand Touring versus Halogen DRLs on the Sport
Front air dam (port installation) Rear lip spoiler (port installation) CLUB model (basically, they tack them on when they get to the US port. Kinda odd, IMHO
Wiper: Design Blade ilo (In lieu of) Tournament (Sounds special) Club and Grand Touring only
USB audio inputs (2) Club and GT, Sport only gets ONE USB :(
Of note: Headrest speakers are driver’s seat only on Sport, Club and GT get Bose speakers with a sub and BOTH seats get headrest speakers.
Brembo/BBS package only available on Club.
Accessories of note:
Front Strut Tower Brace
Lower Arm Bar (Mazdaspeed Branded)
Oil Filler Cap (Red Anodized w/ MX-5 Logo)
Tunnel Under Bars (Mazdaspeed Branded)
Door Center Trim (Alcantara material)
Instrument Panel / Lower Panel (Alcantara material)
Gearshift Knob (Aluminum / Carbon Fiber)
I for one am happy to see some Mazdaspeed accessories being made....

come on 2020!

Hum...what does the GT got more than the Club then?

Design Blade ilo Tournament
So you mean that fancy wing that keeps the wiper blades on the glass at speeds great than 95 mph like on the NA Miatas?
Also, if I were to buy a ND, then I’d just buy the Sport, wait for someone to crash and part out a Club, and raid the SHIT out of it.

I’d like to see how significant the differences between the two types of wipers are.
![]() 06/16/2015 at 13:27 |

Things like auto headlights, wipers, HVAC, NAVI, some chrome and black trim pieces.

Yup, there was a sound tube on the intake of the ND that Travis took me for a ride in. It looked super simple to remove, and now it looks like you can just swipe parts for a Sport to plug it up.
I don't understand why a Miata needs that. With the top down - as all Miatas should've driven - I only heard the exhaust, not the intake. And Travis didn't exactly drive gently.

Saw that thought that too. I think because of the extra “Noise insulators” in the Club and GT they needed to add it to sound more like the Sport?
![]() 06/16/2015 at 13:32 |
|
Not if the top is down. I don’t know if Mazda intended to or not, but the exhaust note sounds quite similar to an NA stock exhaust.

so if you don’t want intake sound piped into the cabin, buy a Sport.
Or just plug the hole. That’s what I did on my BRZ. It’s much better now.

They did. I watched a video on it.

I just want to know if these awesome looking Recaros will be an option here in the states
![]() 06/16/2015 at 13:37 |
|
No. At least, not yet... if at all.
![]() 06/16/2015 at 13:40 |

Damn :( Mini did the same thing, offering them as options in europe, but not over here. Wonder what the rationality behind it is? I mean, it’s not like we’re talking about making changes to the body here, it’s something that attaches with 1 cable and 4 bolts *shrug*

Americans are fat.
Seats have to meet US crash regulations.
JDM importers need business too.
![]() 06/16/2015 at 13:44 |

Then I’d say they succeeded!
![]() 06/16/2015 at 13:46 |

Fair enough. Though, I would think the crash standards part would be a non-issue as most recaros meet those. The other two, yeah you’re probably right.

AND, a base-model ND costs $31,900 up here. Thanks, Harper!

I thought I was getting over that iPad on the dash, but it looks even worse from this angle.
![]() 06/16/2015 at 14:45 |

Serious qustion, why did you choose to delete it? Did it just not sound good, was it to loud?
![]() 06/16/2015 at 14:46 |
|
It’s not bad stock. It only makes a difference above about 4k RPMs with the throttle mostly open, but after I put a nameless exhaust on it, it just sounded artificial. I just plugged it and haven’t thought about it since.
![]() 06/16/2015 at 14:55 |

I think I will start prototyping a product that is basically a sound tube for people who dont have it stock. I am thinking a hoover hose that 3m tapes to go up and over the windshield so you hear engine over the wind with top down.

Usually it has to do with US side airbag compatibility regs rather than anything “unsafe”
![]() 06/16/2015 at 15:06 |
|
Just go one step further and route the exhaust into the cabin!
![]() 06/16/2015 at 15:48 |

The Limited Slip is only available on the Club? I guess that makes my eventual used-ND hunt a lot easier.
Or harder.
Probably both.
![]() 06/16/2015 at 15:56 |

Yep, standard. And only with a manual.
![]() 06/18/2015 at 10:14 |

Except these are equipped with side airbags in the seats from what I understand.
